In football conversations usually arises the discussion over who is better… if Leo Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Any Google search yields hundreds of results on “Messi vs Ronaldo” or “Cristiano Ronaldo vs Messi”. Assuming that we will always make a subjective analysis, based on our personal preferences, I have made this comparison, as a statistic, rigorous and totally objective analysis, in which I will confront their individual and collective achievements. I have incorporated an aspect that many people apply: the comparison of the two while Cristiano Ronaldo played for Real Madrid (2009 to 2018).

Cr7 is the best in the world period, scored more goals than games played for madrid that in itself counters any disputes one would have about how great he is!

Except for when you take into account every other statistic… yes he has scored more goals than Messi since joining Madrid, but that’s it. He doesn’t pass as much as Messi, he doesn’t win trophies as much as Messi, he doesn’t assist as much as Messi. Ronaldo is great, Messi is the greatest…

are you sure? please scroll up and see the statistics again. Ronaldo has played 155 more games than Leo Messi but only ahead 34 goals and Leo Messi still beats him in assists by 26. Imagine when Messi plays his 155 games when Ronaldo retires? Messi will surely be having the throne of scoring most goals, assisting more and won more trophies in this battle.

Solo goals is not the only that matters. It’s a strykers job to score yes, awesome woohoo!!
Messi has revolutionized the game and the reinvented the position. He scores, dribbles, creates chances, sets up plays, assists, drops down to defend. I mean what else? He’s the GOAT, no doubt, no argument. CR7 is in the twilight of his career and he can’t adapt his game to help his team. He just drops down in the area and waits for the pass. He hasn’t mentored or helped any of his striker teammates evolve their game or function as a striking unit, like the MSN. It’s a team sport, not individual awards show. Madrid will not win anything this season. Mark my words. The wheels are and will continue to come off.

Excellent work in statistic analysing here. Overall Messi come on top which is not surprised me. Few things to be added like… Solo goals where Ronaldo is behind Messi in big margin. You should also analyse Dribbling, Passing and Discipline. Leo Messi beat Ronaldo in all these areas as well.

Good analyze but you forgot dribbling, passing(throwballs, crossing and long) Does are important aspect and that is why Messi will be remembered among the greatest and Ronald will go down as a great goalscorer. Did I mention solo goals by Messi?
