El toque final (pase, centro-chut, disparo o cualquier otro toque) que conduce al receptor del balón a marcar un gol. Si el toque final es desviado por un jugador del equipo rival, al pasador solo se le otorga una asistencia de gol si el jugador receptor habría recibido probablemente el balón sin que se hubiera producido el desvío. Los autogoles, los tiros libres directos, los goles directos de córner y los penaltis no conllevan asistencia.
